Tradition of Giving

The strength of our Mountain View Montessori school community lies in our tradition of giving. Throughout our history, contributions from families, friends, alumni and community patrons have been our greatest resource. Our community’s generous donations of time, talent and financial gifts have allowed us to build and strengthen our unique learning environments, our beautiful facility and outstanding campus.

Annual Fund

"The first duty of an education is to stir it up, but leave it free to develop."
Maria Montessori

This tradition of giving was established in 2000 to provide opportunities for ongoing development and improvements to Mountain View Montessori School.

Annual Fund contributions allow MVM to keep tuition at a modest rate compared to other schools in our community and around the country. The Annual Fund also provides a wide range of discretionary needs such as: continuing education for our faculty and staff, Montessori materials, tuition assistance that ensures economic diversity and outdoor education materials and equipment.

MVM is a non-profit corporation. Your tax-deductible donation of any size is of great importance to our community. Every family has unique financial circumstances, we encourage you to give in any manner in which you feel comfortable.

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

Our annual Barnes and Noble Book Fair is a community favorite that offers something for everyone! Enjoy shopping, special events and fun activities while giving back to our school.

Annual Auction

Our Annual Auction is our largest fundraising event of the year. The proceeds from this event directly support our significant financial assistance program, making a Montessori education more affordable and available to families in our community. Proceeds also allow continuing professional Montessori education for faculty and staff and improvements to our facility and campus. These areas are an integral part of our core values and without them, the tremendous benefits they bring would be lost. Support from parents, alumni and business patrons allow us to provide quality education programs in the Reno-Sparks community. Donations from local businesses and organizations for nearly two decades have greatly contributed to our success.

Jog-A-Thon

Our annual Jog-A-Thon is one of three annual school fundraisers. Each spring all MVM students participate.

This is a very fun event for students and parents alike. The funds raised from this event directly support the continuing development of our "outdoor" campus. Over the years we have used these funds to develop our campus landscaping by purchasing play structures, sports equipment and picnic tables. We have also further enhanced our outdoor education program with the garden greenhouse, hoop house, hydroponic house, organic gardens, and White's Creek corridor project.

Each year this event is fully sponsored by generous community patrons whose logos are featured on t-shirts worn by children and staff while participating in the event. The shirts have become a great way for the school and featured businesses to be recognized in our local community as they are worn year after year.
